Mental availability

Mental availability is how readily you come to mind, unprompted, when someone has a need you could meet; being known changes the direction the effort runs.

How it works

If you are obscure you spend your whole life finding your customers; if you are known, they find you. The relationship is probabilistic rather than causal: recognition multiplies the number of places luck can land, so lucky accidents happen more often to the known than to the unknown. It compounds, and not only in sales: calls get returned, invitations arrive, people offer to work with you. Measuring it as one input with one output misreads what kind of thing it is. The talks describe it as a catalyst rather than a lever, and set no threshold for when the effect begins.

What it changes for a personal brand

Count the routes by which a stranger could reach you this month without you sending anything: a search result, a clip on someone else's feed, your name passed between two people in a chat. That count is the part of the odds you hold. Add a new route before adding another post to a route you already have.
